To be productive, we must utilize the time we have and use it judiciously.
This also means a commitment to excellence which does not come by chance but by tactful planning and maximum effort.
I have compressed my wake-up routine into 5 steps to share with you and hopefully it buoys you to rise early and enjoy productive days ahead.
- “EARLY TO BED, EARLY TO RISE.” Go to bed early, 10 PM.
- Set your alarm clock for 4:20 A.M: use the residual 10 minutes to allow your body to become more aware of external stimuli.
- Keep your alarm clock far from your reach: this is helpful because you may be tempted to stretch out your hand and hit the snooze button😊.
- Wake up and stretch when the alarm goes off: this is the first thing I do because it helps awaken my body.
- Get out of bed and stimulate yourself. Play your favorite song, or motivational clip or whatever it is that gets you excited. For me I pray and read the Bible, I love soccer and I am a Manchester United fan, so in the morning I like to read sport news specifically soccer especially if we beat Manchester City, Liverpool FC, or Chelsea😊, and watch a motivational clip as well, then I write.
What are some of the things you do to wake up early? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
This blog post is fantastic! I wake up at around 4:20 a.m. almost every day. I like to give myself time to get ready for the day whenever I wake up. I go to bed at some point between 8:20 and 9:00 the night before so I can get some sleep before I wake up the next morning.

I was inspired to try this challenge out when I read this. For the past two weeks I have been waking up 4-5 days a week at either 4:30 or 5am, while getting to bed around 10:30pm. It honestly has been great. I normally need coffee to kick it in gear but I feel like I accomplish a lot more. The downfall is it does eventually catch up with you and you will most likely need a nap to recover fully mental agility. Overall, I would recommend making this a habit.

I’ve purchased an alarm clock that starts rolling on the floor when it rings so I have no choice but get out of bed to turn it on!

Awesome. You sure have no choice but to leave the bed and then when you apply these other tips plus others you’re sure to be up and running for the day.

This steps are really simple and it seems really easy to follow. It would be nice to wake up at 4:30 a.m. That way you get more things done early on during the day and have the rest of your day for some relaxation.
I agree with one of the comments about having a motivation or a goal for getting up. I think it sets up a mindset for a more productive day.

Awesome. Thanks for your sharing your thoughts Mary.
You definitely get a lot done in the morning. For example, I had 5 things on my to-do list yesterday and I achieved all of them by mid day.
I mean is not always like that but with commitment, discipline, and focused planning you get massive results.

These tips are super practical bro, thanks for sharing! I put my phone on the other side of the room so I’m forced to get out of bed, but even then, I struggle staying awake. I’ll begin implementing stretching and waking up 10 mins beforehand!

Thank you Brandon. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Yeah I agree most times is a struggle even when you put the phone or alarm clock away but if you combine the rest tips then you will see the results. Definitely try the stretching, 10 mins beforehand, and some

I think this is very relevant and helpful for those with full schedules. I do my best to wake up at 4:30am every morning before work so that I have enough time to read my Bible and pray, but it sometimes doesn’t happen that way. These practicals would definitely help change that.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Sibyl.
It was a struggle for me sometime ago but since I started applying these 5 tips my days are more productive and fulfilling. On days where I don’t get the required 7 hours of sleep, I take naps to balance the equation haha

I would add set a small goal or task for yourself the night before
I like, clean the kitchen, go on a small jog, anything to convince myself it’s worth getting out of bed. But nothing to unreachable

I’m a victim of keeping my phone too close to snooze it, but I really like the idea of putting on a motivational video/favorite song to get started. Change of perspective/feeling from grogginess lol
What I do to help me wake up is jumping in the shower. But I want to start a habit of running too
